Becker's recognized Nigam for moving health systems from committee-based AI oversight to real-time policy enforcement at the point of use
JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Oct. 21, 2026 — Vitea, the AI governance platform built for healthcare, today announced that co-founder and CEO Shantanu Nigam has been named to Becker's Hospital Review's 2026 list of health IT cycle up-and-comers. The annual list recognizes emerging leaders at hospitals, health systems and healthcare companies who are advancing health IT.
The Becker's editorial team selected honorees from nominations and its own research, and inclusion cannot be purchased.
In its profile, Becker's highlighted Nigam's work with health system CIOs, CISOs and compliance leaders to move AI oversight out of committee meetings and spreadsheets and into automated policy enforcement at the moment AI is used. Under his leadership, Vitea enforces each health system's AI policies in real time, checking prompts and responses as they happen, and monitors deployed models for signs of bias or unsafe behavior over time.
Nigam has scaled healthcare AI before. He previously co-founded and served as CEO of Jvion, a prescriptive clinical AI company focused on preventing avoidable patient harm, which grew to serve more than 400 hospitals and payers. He is also co-founder and managing partner of SeedtoB Capital, which invests in early-stage health AI companies, and earlier served as a senior manager in Accenture's Health and Life Sciences consulting practice.
The honor follows Vitea's win in the Data Governance & Privacy category of the 2026 Fierce Healthcare AI Innovation Awards and its addition to the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI) partner network.
“A written policy doesn’t stop someone from pasting patient data into a chatbot at 2 a.m.,” said Nigam. “Safeguards have to work at the moment AI is used, every time. That’s why we built Vitea—to give leaders the visibility and control to move forward with confidence. I'm grateful to Becker's for this recognition, and I share it with our team and with the health system leaders whose feedback shapes what we build."

Vitea is the only AI governance platform for healthcare that enforces AI policy in real time, applying each health system's rules to AI prompts and responses at the point of use. The platform's three modules cover real-time policy enforcement (Command); discovery of every AI tool in use, including shadow AI and AI features vendors add to already-approved software (Lens); and continuous monitoring of deployed models for drift, bias and unsafe behavior (Pulse).
